Maruti Suzuki’s highly anticipated electric SUV, the e Vitara, has experienced a delay in its India launch timeline. Delivery is anticipated to start around the end of September, and the official premiere, which was originally planned for May 2025, has been delayed for the second half of the year. In order to take advantage of the heightened consumer interest and demand, this deliberate postponement coincides with the holiday season.

Important Features and Specifications
There will be two battery variants for the e Vitara:
- A 49 kWh battery pack is expected to have a 400 km range when fully charged.
- A 61 kWh battery pack is anticipated to have a 500 km range.
To ensure longevity and safety, both versions will make use of BYD-produced lithium iron phosphate (LFP) blade batteries. The SUV will have a front-wheel-drive system and, depending on the version, power outputs between 142 and 172 horsepower.
Platform and Design
Suzuki’s Heartect-e platform, a modified version of the HEARTECT platform designed for electric cars, serves as the foundation for the e Vitara. In order to improve safety and handling qualities, this platform is made to have a lower center of gravity and more structural integrity. The eVX concept served as the inspiration for the SUV’s design, which includes a floating C-pillar, wraparound LED headlamps, and a dramatic front fascia.
Technology and Interior
The e Vitara’s interior is contemporary and roomy, featuring two 10.25-inch digital displays for the infotainment system and instrument cluster. Along with features like a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and a high-end sound system, it enables wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally accessible will be Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which will improve driving ease and safety.
Cost and Availability
Although the official price has not yet been disclosed, industry analysts predict that the e Vitara would be reasonably priced between ₹17 lakh to ₹22.5 lakh. For a meager ₹25,000, reservations have already started to be made at a few Nexa shops, indicating high customer interest.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, which combines performance, design, and technology, is a major milestone in the company’s electric journey. The extended launch date puts it in a position to capitalize on the rising demand for EVs over the holiday season. The e Vitara is set to emerge as a formidable competitor in the Indian electric SUV market thanks to its affordable price and extensive feature set.
